Dera admin mobilizes religious scholars to curb price hikes during Ramazan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) The district administration has mobilized religious scholars to help curb price hikes and prevent hoarding during Ramazan, as part of efforts to ensure relief for citizens during the holy month.

Acting on the directives of the provincial government, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Nasir Khan convened a special meeting with prominent Ulema to review preparations for Ramazan and strengthen coordination.

During the meeting, the deputy commissioner urged clerics to use Friday sermons to raise public awareness about artificial price hikes and hoarding. He asked religious leaders to highlight Islamic teachings on fairness, honesty and social responsibility, and to discourage traders from exploiting the sanctity of Ramazan through self-imposed inflation or black marketing.

The district administration has already implemented comprehensive measures to maintain price stability. Joint monitoring teams have been constituted to conduct daily inspections of markets, wholesale centers and retail outlets. Officials warned that strict legal action would be taken against violators.

The citizens have also been urged to report cases of overcharging, substandard goods, or hoarding to the district control room or price monitoring desks to ensure swift action.

The district administration reaffirmed its resolve to ensure the availability of affordable and quality essential commodities for the public throughout Ramazan.
