Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Monday chaired a meeting to review the implementation of the austerity measures announced by the government on 13 March, 2026 in light of the evolving situation in the Middle East

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Monday chaired a meeting to review the implementation of the austerity measures announced by the government on 13 March, 2026 in light of the evolving situation in the middle East.

The Cabinet Secretary briefed the committee on the status of various measures under implementation, while the committee also reviewed matters raised by different ministries and divisions in relation to these measures.

Underscoring the importance of fiscal discipline amid prevailing economic challenges, DPM/FM called upon all ministries and divisions to demonstrate utmost responsibility and prudence in public expenditure and administrative decision-making, while ensuring strict adherence to the government’s austerity framework as approved by the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif , in consultation with the provinces.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of State for Finance, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretaries of Cabinet and Interior, Special Secretary Petroleum, and other senior government officials.
