Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi on Tuesday ordered the immediate closure of all unauthorised constructions and expressed displeasure over ongoing construction activities on Club Road and in New Murree

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi on Tuesday ordered the immediate closure of all unauthorised constructions and expressed displeasure over ongoing construction activities on Club Road and in New Murree.

He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the Municipal Corporation,Murree to review measures relating to the elimination of illegal constructions and encroachments, and the recovery of outstanding revenues in the hill station.

He directed the concerned to immediately cancel suspicious construction approvals on Barian Road and Club Road and launch a grand operation against illegal structures in those areas. To enhance transparency in the planning sector, Superintendent Abid Abbasi was assigned additional responsibilities in recognition of his professional reputation.

The city administration was also directed to restore all non-functional street lights at the earliest to ensure that residents and tourists would not face inconvenience.

The meeting decided to remove illegal occupants and encroachments from different parts of the city. It was further decided that the number of handcarts would be increased by only 20, while no additional carts would be permitted.

To expedite revenue recovery, the MO Finance was directed to ensure the immediate recovery of Rs 7.5 million in outstanding rent from the PERRA Force, along with all pending dues from WASA. The illegally occupying and subletting Municipal Corporation quarters by the former employees would be evicted immediately, the meeting decided.

The official residences would be allocated to serving officers to facilitate the effective discharge of their duties. Shirazi said no leniency would be tolerated against those responsible for tarnishing the beauty of Murree or exploiting tourists.
