Decision to give higher secondary status to hundreds of high schools across Punjab

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2026) It has been decided to give higher secondary status to hundreds of high schools across Punjab, after which students will be able to do FA and FSC from the concerned institution.

Punjab Higher education Department sources said that the concerned authorities have sought data to upgrade schools across Punjab.

A decision will be taken after examining the availability of space and suitability of the building for the upgradation of high schools.

A complete report has been sought from the heads of high schools about the institution, while they will be given higher secondary status only after inspecting the high schools by a third party.

The number of high schools across Punjab is 6,000, out of which 5,800 high schools have provided their data so far, while 795 high schools have expressed their desire for upgradation if space becomes available.
