PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) Three senior professors from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department have passed away, creating an atmosphere of grief and sorrow in academic circles.
Their deaths are being termed a major setback for the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the education sector of the province.
According to Education Dept report on Wednesday, the deceased professors were highly experienced and respected teachers from the departments of Pakistan Studies, Islamic Studies and Economics. Their passing has deeply saddened the educational community and a wave of mourning has spread across the academic circles.
The Higher Education Department confirmed that Professor Naveed Khan (Pakistan Studies) and Professor Fazal ur Rehman, Chairman of the Islamic Studies Department, passed away due to heart attacks. Both were known for their valuable academic contributions, excellent teaching abilities and dedication to student development.
Meanwhile, Professor Majid Khan from the Economics Department had been suffering from cancer for a long time and passed away after a prolonged illness.
The academic community has expressed deep condolences and described the loss as irreparable for the education sector.
