DC Tharparkar directs comprehensive monsoon preparedness across district

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jul, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Abdul Haleem Jagirani directed all relevant departments to complete all necessary arrangements in advance to effectively deal with any situation that may arise during and after the monsoon rains, ensuring that the public does not face any inconvenience.

According to a handout issued on Monday, he gave these instructions while chairing a meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee at his office to review preparedness for the expected heavy monsoon rains.

The meeting was attended by Chairman District Council Tharparkar Dr Ghulam Haider Samejo, District Health Officer Dr Lekhraj Sarangani, assistant commissioners, officers of all relevant departments and other officials.

Addressing the meeting, the deputy commissioner directed assistant commissioners, officials of the public health engineering department and town officers to complete all preparations to ensure that rainwater does not accumulate at any location.

He instructed officials of the health department and PPHI to impose an emergency in all government hospitals and health centers across the district during the rains, cancel the leave of doctors and paramedical staff and ensure the availability of sufficient life-saving medicines.

Jagirani also directed the education department to provide a list of all schools to the district administration so that relief camps could be established there in case of any emergency.

He directed HESCO officials to remain present in the field during the rains and ensure the immediate repair and restoration of any fallen electricity poles or power lines. He warned that no negligence in this regard would be tolerated.

The deputy commissioner also directed the livestock department to immediately launch a vaccination campaign to protect animals from seasonal diseases.

Speaking on the occasion, chairman of the district council Dr Ghulam Haider Samejo said that all necessary measures had already been taken to cope with any situation arising from heavy rainfall. He added that clear instructions had also been issued to all union councils in the district and assured the district administration of full cooperation.
