DC suspends three livestock officials during cattle market visit

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar Sanaullah Khan on Wednesday visited the cattle market established on GT Road to review arrangements made for Eid ul Azha and suspended three officials of the Livestock Department over negligence.

According to an official statement, the DC inspected cleanliness, security, water supply and other facilities being provided at the market. Assistant Commissioner Saddar Hasina Khan, officials of the Livestock Department, TMA Chamkani and other relevant departments accompanied him during the visit.

Officials briefed the DC about sanitation measures, veterinary services, drinking water arrangements and security steps for citizens visiting the cattle market for the purchase of sacrificial animals.

Expressing dissatisfaction over certain issues, Sanaullah Khan ordered the immediate suspension of three Livestock Department officials and directed a departmental inquiry into the matter.

He instructed authorities to further improve cleanliness conditions, ensure an uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water and provide maximum facilities to buyers and traders at the cattle market.

The DC also directed veterinary doctors to regularly examine animals and ensure spraying to prevent the spread of diseases.

He further ordered authorities to maintain smooth traffic flow around cattle markets and ensure the presence of police and traffic police personnel to facilitate visitors and strengthen security measures.

Sanaullah Khan said providing the best possible facilities to citizens during Eid ul Azha was the top priority of the district administration and warned that negligence would not be tolerated.

He also warned of strict legal action against illegal and unregistered cattle markets established without official permission.

The district administration appealed to citizens to purchase sacrificial animals only from approved and registered cattle markets to ensure access to proper facilities, cleanliness and security.
