DC Shikarpur raids wheat godowns in Madeji, seizes thousands of hoarded bags

SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jul, 2026) In a major crackdown on illegal hoarding, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shikarpur, Shakeel Ahmed Abro led a joint operation in Madeji city on Tuesday sealing several warehouses and shops found stockpiling wheat.

The raids were carried out by a team comprising DC Shikarpur Shakeel Ahmed Abro, Assistant Commissioner Garhi Yasin Shaista Sindhu, Mukhtiarkar Shaukat Ali Bhangwar, District food Controller Shikarpur Zulfiqar Pathan and officials from the Food and Revenue departments.

According to officials, the operation targeted unregistered and illegal warehouses, mills, and retail shops. Authorities recovered thousands of wheat bags that had been hoarded in violation of government regulations.

The premises involved were sealed on the spot.

Speaking to the media after the raids, DC Shakeel Ahmed Abro said the seized wheat will be moved to government godowns. The traders will be compensated at the official government-fixed rate, he stated.

The DC warned that the district administration has adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward hoarding. Operations against illegal stockpiling will continue across Shikarpur to ensure market stability and protect consumers from artificial price hikes, he added. The action comes amid provincial efforts to curb wheat hoarding and ensure adequate supply ahead of the upcoming season.
