NAWABSHAH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Mar, 2026) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, chaired an important meeting regarding commercial centers Shan Plaza and Tayyaba Center at Darbar Hall on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said that the purpose of demolishing Shan Plaza and Tayyaba Center is not to render anyone unemployed or create difficulties, but to ensure the protection of human lives.
He informed that reports submitted by designated engineers have identified serious structural and safety concerns in both buildings. At the request of traders’ representatives, DC granted a one-month deadline and urged representatives of Shan Plaza to obtain a comprehensive proposal from any approved consultant company within the stipulated period. The proposal must clearly state the building’s expected lifespan and structural stability.
It was decided during the meeting that the traders of Tayyaba Center would also prepare a detailed proposal for reconstruction and renovation through an approved consultant company and submit it to Municipal Corporation.
A final decision and plan will then be formulated by the Municipal Corporation. Traders’ leaders Ghulam Murtaza Samo, Rashid Qureshi, Kamran Qayyum Qureshi and others thanked district administration, Municipal Corporation, and District Council for their cooperation.
They expressed hope that the relevant institutions would take effective measures to safeguard the employment of more than 200 individuals associated with these buildings.
They said that the expenses for renovation of Tayyaba Center would be borne by the traders’ union and shopkeepers themselves. On this occasion, Mayor Qazi Muhammad Rashid Bhatti and Chairman of the District Council Ali Akbar Jamali assured traders of their full cooperation, stating that the administration’s objective is to take timely measures to prevent any potential loss of life and property.
They said that although an initial decision had been made to demolish and reconstruct both buildings, the administration reconsidered the matter and granted a one-month extension in response to the traders’ request. The meeting was attended by Member Sindh Assembly Chaudhry Javed Iqbal Arain, Municipal Commissioner Abdul Razzaq Sheikh, Chief Officer of the District Council Ghulam Raza Zardari, traders and shopkeepers of Shan Plaza and Tayyaba Center, Rescue officials, Anti-Encroachment Police, senior architects, and officers of relevant departments.
