SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2026) Heavy rain continued to lash Sialkot for the second consecutive day on Wednesday,as the district administration launched extensive rainwater drainage operations across the city to prevent urban flooding.
According to a spokesperson for the Deputy Commissioner's Office,Deputy Commissioner(DC),Awais Mushtaq directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to initiate drainage work immediately after the downpour began. All disposal stations remained fully functional while WASA teams continued clearing garbage and waste from drains to ensure the uninterrupted flow of rainwater.
The DC visited Rangpura,Shahabpura Road and Zahra Memorial Chowk to inspect the ongoing operation.
He instructed WASA officials to continue drainage work without interruption and keep all field teams active until the situation returned to normal.

As more rainfall was expected,DC Awais directed all relevant departments to remain on high alert.
He said rivers,nullahs and seasonal waterways were being monitored continuously while the District Emergency Operations Center (DEOC) remained operational round the clock to respond to any emergency.
The district administration also issued an advisory asking residents to avoid ponds,waterlogged areas and seasonal drains,refrain from touching electric poles or broken power lines and limit unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall.
