DC reviews performance of municipal services

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Jul, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza reviewed the performance of municipal services and directed the concerned departments to improve sanitation, sewerage infrastructure, and public safety measures to ensure a cleaner, safer, and better-managed urban environment.

Chairing a meeting to review the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of district departments, Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza said that, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, providing citizens with a safe, clean, and modern civic environment remains the district administration's foremost priority. He emphasized that all concerned departments must work in close coordination, ensure effective monitoring, and perform their responsibilities with professionalism, transparency, and dedication to achieve this objective.

The meeting reviewed the ongoing third-party surveys relating to solid waste management, manhole covers, and stray dog control, along with the performance of various departments. The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to ensure that all data collected during the surveys is complete, accurate, and uploaded promptly to facilitate a transparent and objective assessment of district performance. Highlighting public safety concerns, Syed Hassan Raza said that open or damaged manholes pose a serious threat to human life and property.

He instructed the relevant departments to immediately identify such locations and carry out timely repairs to prevent accidents. He also directed the concerned authorities to adopt a comprehensive and sustainable strategy for controlling the stray dog population and to discharge their responsibilities with greater commitment and efficiency.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed departments to address all shortcomings identified through the third-party surveys without delay and improve their performance by achieving assigned targets within the stipulated timelines. He said these efforts would help translate the Punjab Government's vision of providing quality municipal services and a safer urban environment into reality. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Ayesha Khan, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur Saddar Hamza Ehtesham, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur City Iqra Mubeen, System Network Administrator Azeem Zeeshan, the Deputy Director, Local Government and Community Development, Assistant Directors of the department, Chief Officers of municipal committees from across the district, and other relevant officials.
