RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, Hassan Waqar Cheema on Monday reviewed the first-day performance of the ongoing anti-polio campaign, directing officials to ensure full coverage and strict monitoring, particularly in high-risk areas.

The meeting, held at the DC Office, was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (HQ) Abdul Rehman Khan, CEO Health Dr Ehsan Ghani, Deputy District Health Officers (DDHOs) and other concerned officials.

A detailed review was conducted of field teams’ attendance, progress against assigned targets and challenges faced during the first day of the campaign.

The deputy commissioner directed all teams to perform their duties with dedication and a sense of national responsibility to ensure that no child is left without polio vaccination.

Special focus was given to high-risk union councils, with instructions to strengthen monitoring, deploy additional teams and ensure door-to-door coverage in these areas.

He also emphasised the need to engage parents who refuse vaccination through effective awareness, and to involve local elders, religious scholars and community leaders to improve acceptance.

Officials were further directed to strictly implement microplanning, prioritise sensitive areas and adopt an effective communication strategy to raise public awareness.

The deputy commissioner said daily progress would be reviewed and warned that negligence or poor performance would not be tolerated, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to complete eradication of polio.
