DC reviews dengue prevention measures

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali on Monday directed relevant departments to maintain

effective coordination and ensure strict implementation of anti-dengue measures to prevent

the spread of the disease across the district.

Chairing the fourth meeting of the District Emergency Response Committee on Dengue at the DC Office,

she reviewed ongoing anti-dengue activities, field surveillance, hotspot monitoring and the performance

of the concerned departments.

She said there would be zero tolerance for negligence in dengue prevention and instructed officials

to ensure 100 per cent coverage of identified hotspots, regular indoor and outdoor surveillance,

timely elimination of mosquito larvae and enhanced public awareness campaigns.

According to the district administration spokesperson, Chief Executive Officer Health Dr Aslam

Chaudhry informed the meeting that 1,541 suspected dengue cases had been reported in the district

from Jan 1 to Jun 27, 2026, while only one case was confirmed and immediate response measures were completed.

He said 153,970 houses and 38,088 outdoor locations had been inspected, while monitoring of all 2,802 identified hotspots had been completed.

The deputy commissioner directed all departments to closely monitor their daily anti-dengue operations and continue preventive measures in line with the Punjab government's zero-tolerance policy to provide a safe environment for citizens.

District Health Officer Dr Shiraz Masood, Entomologist Sehrish Khalid and officials of the relevant departments attended the meeting.
