DC reviews city drainage projects in Gujrat

GUJRAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Gujrat Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi chaired a meeting to review progress on sewerage and drainage projects under the Punjab Development Programme (PDP).

Managing Director WASA Gujrat Kashan Hafeez Butt briefed the meeting on various schemes aimed at improving the city’s sewerage system.

Officials said construction of disposal stations near Kutchery Chowk and Zahoor Elahi Stadium is underway. Concrete up to 12 feet has been poured in the dry well and wet well, while 644 feet of 12-inch pipe and 1,272 feet of 15-inch pipe have been laid under the sewerage line project.

Work on laying a 1,200 mm main pipeline totaling 5,500 feet is also in progress, with 800 feet completed so far. Drains and sewerage lines are being installed in Madina Syedan and other areas, while desilting of existing lines continues to improve drainage.

Officials added that 1,464 RCC pipes of various sizes have been prepared under the project. Construction of new drains and cleaning of old sewerage lines is ongoing across the city.

The deputy commissioner directed concerned departments to complete the projects within the stipulated time and maintain high standards of quality.
