DC reviews central control room operations for Muharram security

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) The Lahore district administration has completed security and administrative preparations for Muharram-ul-Haram in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for ensuring a peaceful Punjab.

Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Ijaz, accompanied by DIG Operations Faisal Kamran and SSP Operations Tauqeer Naeem, visited the Central District Control Room established at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and reviewed arrangements made for Muharram. The district-level control room has been fully activated to monitor processions and religious gatherings across the city through modern technology.

The DC said ensuring public safety and maintaining religious harmony remained the government’s top priority and all relevant departments were on high alert.

During the briefing, Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Zulqarnain Khan and Assistant Commissioner HR Waqas Anjum informed the officials that representatives of 14 departments were performing round-the-clock duties in the control room, while continuous coordination was being maintained with the Safe City and Home Department control rooms.

More than 1,500 additional CCTV cameras have been installed across the city to cover blind spots along traditional procession routes.

They briefed that 19 teaching hospitals and two DHQ hospitals had been placed on high alert, with 10 additional beds reserved at each facility. Temporary hospitals had also been established in the Walled City area and at Central Model school. As many as 77 clinic-on-wheel units and ambulances would remain deployed on routes to provide immediate medical assistance to mourners.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran and SSP Operations Tauqeer Naeem expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements and said police personnel and trained volunteers were ensuring strict security through walkthrough gates and search operations at entry points.

The DC directed officials to promptly address public complaints received through social media and landline services to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for all religious gatherings.
