DC orders strict action against fare overcharging ahead of Eid

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir has issued orders for strict action against the transporters charging fares above the officially notified rates and other illegal practices ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Chairing a meeting, he reviewed in detail various measures to ensure strict implementation of official fare lists at transport terminals.

He directed that fare charts must be displayed prominently at all bus stands and enforced without exception to prevent overcharging during the festive rush.

He further instructed the transport authorities to ensure proper cleanliness arrangements at bus stands and provide adequate seating facilities in waiting areas so that the passengers traveling for Eid can avail maximum comfort and convenience.

He made it clear that exploitation of passengers returning to their hometowns would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The meeting also decided to ensure 100 percent checking of petrol pumps, with strict monitoring of fuel availability, measurement, and pricing to prevent any malpractice.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that negligence in public service delivery, whether in the public or private sector, would invite strict legal action.

The meeting also took a firm decision to launch a crackdown against sale of illegal and smuggled cigarettes.

The DC directed the relevant authorities to take effective action to eliminate this unlawful business and bring those involved to justice.

Additional Deputy Commissioner General and Revenue, Assistant Commissioners, Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Civil Defense officials and others were also present in the meeting.
