KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohat, Muhammad Nawaz, held an open public meeting at his office to hear citizens’ grievances and review issues related to service delivery.
According to DC office, he issued on-the-spot directives to relevant departments for the prompt resolution of complaints to ensure maximum relief to the public.
In line with the DC’s instructions, the Kohat administration launched a strict crackdown against overpricing on the first day of Ramadan.
The Naib Tehsildar conducted surprise inspections in various markets to check compliance with official price lists.
During the operation, one shopkeeper was found charging above the notified rate. The excess amount was immediately returned to the customer, and legal action was initiated against the violator. The citizen expressed gratitude to the district administration for swift justice.
The administration reiterated that profiteering and overcharging would not be tolerated during the holy month, and strict action would continue against violators.
Meanwhile, on the directives of the Deputy Commissioner, Additional Assistant Commissioner Darra, Muhammad Arif, visited Darra Bazaar to inspect the availability of essential commodities and ensure implementation of government-approved prices.
He inspected fruit, vegetable, butcher, and grocery shops, instructing traders to provide quality items at official rates throughout Ramadan.
He warned that hoarding and profiteering would face strict legal consequences, adding that market monitoring would continue to ensure public relief. The AAC also inspected the Price Monitoring Desk in Darra Bazaar and directed staff to ensure timely redressal of public complaints.
Furthermore, the district administration has established Ramadan Complaint Cells in all tehsils to register public grievances and ensure their immediate resolution. According to officials, the initiative aims to address issues related to prices of essential commodities, hoarding, profiteering, and other administrative matters.
The administration urged citizens to contact their respective tehsil complaint cells in case of any issue so that transparency, facilitation, and public service can be ensured during the holy month.
