DC for demolish, reconstruct oldest Shan Plaza building in Nawabshah

NAWABSHAH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, accompanied by Pakistan Peoples Party District President Muhammad Salim Zardari and other concerned officials, paid a detailed visit to structurally unsafe building, Shan Plaza, located in one of the city’s busiest commercial areas.

On this occasion, Assistant Commissioner Nawabshah Iqbal Ahmed Tunio, Chief Officer District Council Ghulam Raza Zardari, Municipal Commissioner Abdul Razzaq Sheikh, engineers from the Building Control Authority, and other relevant officers were also present.

Technical experts briefed Deputy Commissioner that significant cracks have appeared in building’s foundations, pillars, and upper structure. Furthermore, safety requirements are not being met, due to which the building has been declared unsafe for public use.

Deputy Commissioner said that it is essential to completely evacuate Shan Plaza, as the protection of human lives remains top priority.

He announced that, in light of technical report, the existing dilapidated structure will be demolished and Shan Plaza will be reconstructed.

The new building will be constructed in accordance with Sindh Building Control regulations and modern engineering standards.

Deputy Commissioner added that the new construction will incorporate modern fire safety measures, including emergency exit routes, fire escape staircases, use of fire-resistant materials, proper signage for emergencies, and emergency lighting systems.

He assured shopkeepers and affected individuals that District Administration will extend full cooperation in resolving their concerns and will ensure that the reconstruction process is carried out transparently and expeditiously.
