FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir and City Police Officer (CPO) Sahibzada Bilal Umar on Tuesday jointly chaired a meeting to review security arrangements for the observance of Youm-e-Shahadat of Hazrat Ali (RA) on 21st Ramadan-ul-Mubarak and finalizing a comprehensive security plan for the mourning processions and religious gatherings across the district.
They reviewed the prevailing national situation, potential terrorism threats and other security challenges in detail while assessing arrangements for maintaining law & order during the religious observance.
The meeting was informed that a comprehensive district-wide security plan had been devised for all mourning processions and majalis to ensure peaceful observance of the day. In view of security considerations, it was decided that all mourning processions would conclude on their designated routes before Maghrib prayers.
The meeting also decided that police, civil defense personnel and other law enforcement agencies would be deployed along procession routes and at venues of religious gatherings. Strict monitoring and security checks would also be carried out to prevent any untoward incident.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir said the district administration was adopting a zero-tolerance policy against miscreants and elements attempting to disrupt peace.
He said that foolproof security arrangements were being ensured to safeguard lives and property of the citizens and maintain law & order.
He said that district administration, police and other relevant departments were fully mobilized to ensure peaceful observance of the occasion and directed all departments to maintain close coordination and perform their responsibilities effectively.
CPO Sahibzada Bilal Umar said that volunteers would also assist law enforcement agencies in ensuring security during mourning processions and majalis.
He directed police officials to remain fully alert in view of regional developments including security situation in the middle East and Afghanistan, and take all precautionary measures to address potential threats.
The meeting was informed that compared with previous years, more effective and stringent security arrangements would be implemented this year to ensure peaceful observance of Youm-e-Ali (RA).
Representatives of Shia organizers assured the district administration and police of their full cooperation in maintaining peace & order during the observance. They said that all mourning processions and majalis would strictly follow the agreed code of conduct, timings and designated routes, and pledged to assist the authorities in identifying miscreants and preventing any attempt to disturb public peace while promoting a message of unity and harmony on the occasion.
