HARIPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Haripur Islahuddin and District Police Officer (DPO) Shafiullah Gandapur conducted a detailed inspection of the routes of major Muharram-ul-Haram processions in Khanpur on Wednesday and reviewed security and administrative arrangements ahead of the religious observances.
According to an official handout, the officials visited procession routes in Garhi Syedan, Pind Gakhra and Sarai Saleh, where they examined entry and exit points, sensitive locations, traffic management plans, emergency response mechanisms and other security measures.
The visit was attended by the concerned assistant commissioners, circle DSPs, SHOs and other officials.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner and DPO visited the Central Control Room established at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, where they reviewed arrangements for online monitoring of processions and majalis, surveillance systems and inter-departmental coordination mechanisms.
During the tour, the officials also met caretakers of Imambargahs and procession organizers.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The meetings focused on maintaining law and order during Muharram, promoting inter-sect harmony, religious tolerance and strengthening mutual cooperation. Organizers assured the district administration and police of their full support in ensuring peaceful observance of Muharram.
The Deputy Commissioner and DPO directed officials to utilize all available resources to safeguard lives and property and maintain a peaceful atmosphere throughout the month. They stressed the need for foolproof security arrangements for processions and religious gatherings through continuous monitoring using CCTV cameras, drone surveillance, police patrol vehicles and the central control room.
They also emphasized pre-procession route clearance by the Bomb Disposal Unit, deployment of snipers at sensitive locations and the use of anti-drone systems to enhance security and enable a swift response to any untoward incident.
