DC Chiniot inspects heatwave camp, orders enhanced medical facilities for citizens

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Ayesha Rizwan on Thursday visited a heatwave relief camp established by the District Health Authority and reviewed the medical and administrative arrangements put in place to protect citizens from the ongoing spell of extreme temperatures. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Health Dr. Saqib Munir, District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Shahzad Khalil, and other relevant officials accompanied her during the inspection.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner examined facilities available for heat-affected individuals, including the provision of medicines, cold drinking water, Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS), first aid services, and public awareness materials. She also reviewed the overall preparedness of the camp and assessed measures being taken to respond to heat-related emergencies.

Ayesha Rizwan directed health authorities to ensure that all heatwave camps remain fully operational and equipped with adequate resources to provide timely medical assistance to the public.

She stressed the importance of intensifying awareness campaigns and educating citizens about precautionary measures, particularly for vulnerable groups such as senior citizens, children, and outdoor workers who face a higher risk of heat-related illnesses.

Briefing the Deputy Commissioner, CEO Health Dr. Saqib Munir and DHO Dr. Shahzad Khalil highlighted the district’s preparedness measures, availability of medical staff, and facilities being offered at the camp. Expressing satisfaction with the arrangements, Ayesha Rizwan instructed officials to utilize all available resources to safeguard public health, warning that any negligence in providing services during the heatwave would not be tolerated.
