SANGHAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Mar, 2026) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sarah Javed and SSP Abid Baloch jointly chaired a meeting to review arrangements for the upcoming National Immunisation Days (NID) anti-polio campaign scheduled to be held from April 13 to April 19, 2026, across the district.
The meeting was attended by officials of the Health Department of Sindh, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the district administration and other relevant departments.
Participants reviewed micro-plans, deployment of vaccination teams, security arrangements, cold chain management and special strategies for high-risk union councils to ensure smooth implementation of the campaign.
Ms Javed directed officials to ensure that every child under the age of five is administered polio drops, stressing that no child should be left out. “Protecting children under five from this crippling disease is our collective responsibility,” she said, urging all departments to coordinate closely to achieve full coverage.
SSP Baloch informed the meeting that male and female police personnel would be deployed at entry and exit points of the district as well as at transit points to provide security to polio workers.
He assured that vaccination teams would be able to perform their duties in remote areas without fear.
DC also instructed assistant commissioners to supervise the training of Union Council Medical Officers (UCMOs) and ensure effective implementation of micro-plans. Officials were directed to monitor field teams closely and submit daily performance reports during the campaign.
District Health Officer Dr Mohammad Farooq and N-Stop focal person Dr Deedar Khaskheli briefed the meeting, stating that taluka-wise restructuring of UCMOs was underway to further improve the effectiveness of the campaign. They added that under a new edit system, the number of union councils had increased, requiring updated planning and coordination.
The meeting reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to make Sanghar district polio-free through coordinated efforts and strict monitoring during the upcoming immunisation drive.
