BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Mar, 2026) A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza to
review arrangements under the Punjab government’s Suthra Punjab initiative.
The session focused on citywide sanitation measures, the elimination of stray dogs, and resolving
the issue of open manholes. Officers from relevant departments attended the meeting and discussed
various proposals and practical steps to address pressing civic concerns.
While presiding over the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza stated that the presence of
stray dogs in the city poses a serious threat to public safety.
He stressed the need for a well-organized and effective campaign to tackle the issue. He directed the concerned departments to adopt a coordinated strategy and accelerate operations to ensure a safer environment for citizens.
The meeting also included a detailed discussion on identifying open manholes across the city under the Clean Punjab program and ensuring their immediate repair or proper covering. The Deputy Commissioner instructed all relevant departments to promptly survey their respective areas, identify open manholes, and prioritize their closure to prevent any untoward incidents.
