KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Kohat, Muhammad Nawaz Wazir, on Tuesday highlighted the crucial role of media in promoting peace, religious harmony, and public awareness during Muharram-ul-Haram, urging journalists and media organizations to uphold the highest standards of responsible reporting. Addressing media representatives at the camp office, he stressed that only verified information should be shared with the public while avoiding the dissemination of unconfirmed, inflammatory, or sectarian content.

The Deputy Commissioner said that during the sensitive days of Muharram, the media serves as a vital link between the administration and the public by ensuring the timely flow of accurate information. He warned that rumors and provocative material could jeopardize law and order and undermine public confidence, emphasizing the need for constructive reporting, promotion of tolerance, and awareness campaigns aimed at fostering unity and social cohesion.

During the meeting, participants discussed arrangements for Muharram processions, security measures, public facilitation, and mechanisms for effective coordination between the district administration and media outlets. Media representatives assured the administration of their full cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to playing a positive role in promoting peace, inter-sect harmony, and brotherhood throughout the holy month.

Meanwhile, acting on the directives of the Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioners carried out inspections across the district to improve public service delivery and enforce regulations. AAC (Revenue) Ibrahim Khan inspected the Sub-Registrar Office and Patwar Khanas in Pir Khel and Mansoor Khel, reviewing records and directing officials to prevent illegal encroachments on state land.

AAC-I Muhammad Hamza Mutahir conducted inspections of bakery and sweets manufacturing units on Pindi Road, imposing fines on establishments violating hygiene standards, and led an operation against illegal cigarette sales, seizing more than 30 cartons and 250 packets. AAC Gambat Syed Mukhtiar Shah visited the Service Delivery Center and RHC Gambat, reviewing public services, healthcare facilities, staff attendance, cleanliness, and citizen complaints, while directing officials to ensure transparency, efficiency, and quality service delivery. The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that such inspections reflect the administration’s commitment to public welfare, transparency, and the maintenance of peace and order during Muharram-ul-Haram.
