DC calls for promoting religious harmony, respect during Muharram

RENALA KHURD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner (DC), Okara Ahmed Usman Javed on Thursday visited Shergarh to review arrangements for the observing holy month of Muharram.

District Police Officer, (DPO) Dr. Asad Ijaz Malhi was present on the occasion.

During the visit, they inspected the routes of the main Muharram processions and Imambargahs, directing authorities to ensure the best possible facilities for mourners participating in religious gatherings.

The DC instructed for cleanliness along procession routes, including sanitation measures and water sprinkling to minimize dust.

He directed to establish health camps, the provision of Sabeels (free drinking water stalls), and the uninterrupted supply of electricity during Muharram events.

The deputy commissioner and the district police officer emphasized the need to promote religious devotion, mutual respect, and harmony during the holy month stressing that all necessary administrative and security arrangements should be completed to facilitate mourners and maintain peace.
