HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th May, 2026) A meeting to review readiness for the upcoming Sub-National Immunization Days (SNIDs) campaign was held at the DC Complex on Friday.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abideen Memon directed all concerned departments to ensure full cooperation so that no child was left deprived of the polio vaccine.

He further instructed that adequate arrangements for water, ORS, and lemonade be ensured for the field teams keeping in view the ongoing heat wave.

The DC also emphasized that with schools currently closed, special focus should be given to children living in their houses.

Memon asked the officials to ensure a successful execution of the campaign so that no refusal, missed, and unavailable cases surfaced.

The meeting was informed that the environmental samples from Qadir Nagar, Qasimabad, and Latifabad unit number 9 areas had tested positive.

Keeping the latest reports in consideration, special focus and strategy would be adopted in those high-risk areas where the number of refusal and missed cases remains significant, the officials assured.

The meeting reviewed in detail the preparations for the anti-polio campaign which was commencing from May 18, including access to children in sensitive areas, security arrangements, micro-planning, public awareness, and inter-departmental coordination.

Participants were informed that a target of vaccinating 400,965 children against polio had been set for Hyderabad.

As many as 1,515 mobile teams had been constituted for the campaign while 1,737 police personnel would be deployed to ensure foolproof security during the drive, the officials briefed.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner II Saba Israr, District Health Officer Dr Pir Ghulam Hussain, and other officials.
