Day-care centre inaugurated at Fatima Jinnah Medical University

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) Punjab Women Development Department Secretary Saman Rai and Parliamentary Secretary Saadia Temur on Wednesday inaugurated a day-care centre at Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU), aimed at facilitating working women and female students.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by university administration and faculty members. The facility has been established to provide a safe and supportive environment for children, enabling women to better manage their professional and academic responsibilities.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Women Development Saman Rai said the Punjab government was taking practical steps to ensure a safe and conducive environment for women, adding that the establishment of day-care centres was an important initiative in this regard.

She noted that such facilities would ease childcare responsibilities for working women and students, allowing them to perform more effectively in their respective roles.

Parliamentary Secretary for Women Development Saadia Temur said the welfare of women remained among the top priorities of the government. She termed the day-care centre not just a facility but a positive step towards women empowerment, adding that more such centres would be established in the future to extend benefits to a larger number of women.

Participants of the ceremony appreciated the Punjab government’s efforts and expressed hope for the continuation of such welfare-oriented projects.
