Dacoit arrested in injured condition after shootout

MUZAFFARGARH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) A notorious dacoit was arrested in injured condition after an exchange of fire between police and criminals in the area of Rohillanwali police in district Muzaffargarh.

According to the police spokesperson, members of the Bangal dacoit gang attacked a police party in an attempt to free their accomplice during a raid in the Bangalwala area. Police retaliated in self-defense, and the exchange of fire caused injury to accused Ajmal, allegedly by the bullets fired by his own unidentified accomplices during the encounter.

Police managed to arrest him and shifted him to hospital for medical treatment.

Police said, Ajmal was a hardened criminal involved in 18 cases of robbery, highway robbery, and theft registered at different police stations.

The incident occurred when the police party had reached Bangalwala to recover stolen property allegedly snatched by the gang. Police said, raids were underway to arrest the remaining suspects who managed to escape from the scene.
