LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th May, 2026) The City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) on Sunday issued an emergency traffic management plan for Shah Pur Kanjran Cattle Market and adjoining areas ahead of Eid-ul-Adha to handle expected congestion due to increased movement of traders and buyers.
According to a CTPL spokesperson, the plan has been devised on the directions of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi to ensure smooth flow of traffic around Shah Pur Kanjran Cattle Market and Thokar Niaz Baig.
Under the plan, traffic entering Lahore from Multan Road via Manga Mandi will be diverted from NFC Interchange towards Ring Road in case of heavy congestion.
Similarly,in case of increased pressure from Thokar Niaz Baig towards the cattle market, traffic coming from Babu Sabu Motorway will be diverted towards Qazalbash Chowk instead of the Multan Road slip road and routed via Khayaban Chowk,Jubilee Town and Mohlanwal.
Outbound traffic from Lahore may also be diverted via Shaukat Khanum Road or Raiwind Road towards Ring Road if congestion builds up at Thokar Niaz Baig Chowk.

The CTPL has also requested the Inspector General of Motorway Police to allow cattle transport vehicles to use the Thokar Bypass towards Babu Sabu to reduce pressure on the main carriageway.
Heavy traffic was expected on both sides of the Thokar Niaz Baig–Shah Pur Kanjran Cattle Market corridor in the lead-up to Eid-ul-Adha, the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson said citizens would be updated through the Rasta App,FM 88.6,Helpline 15,electronic and print media, and official social media platforms.
More than 100 traffic wardens have been deployed along the route under the supervision of SP Traffic Sadar Division, while coordination with the Motorway Police was being maintained round the clock for traffic management.
