CTP issues traffic advisory as IESCO to remove poles along Peshawar Road on Monday

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Mar, 2026) The City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi on Sunday issued a special traffic advisory for Monday as the Islamabad Electric Supply Company will shift electric poles in connection with ongoing construction work on three underpasses along the busy Peshawar Road.

According to a CTP spokesman, traffic will be diverted to alternate routes during the shifting of electric poles from 7 am to 7 pm along the major artery of the city.

The spokesman advised citizens to avoid unnecessary movement on the Peshawar Road during the specified hours and to cooperate with traffic wardens to ensure smooth flow.

The underpasses are being constructed at Race Course Chowk, Army Graveyard Chowk and Charing Cross as part of the Punjab Government’s initiative to turn Peshawar Road into a signal-free corridor from Ammar Chowk to the Motorway entrance at Chungi No. 26.

In the first phase, underpasses in front of the Pearl Continental Hotel and General Post Office Chowk were completed, while work on the Kachehry Chowk remodelling project — including a flyover and an underpass at Kachehry Chowk, a flyover in front of Jinnah Park and another underpass on Iftikhar Janjua Road — is underway in the second phase.
