CTD launches investigation into two deaths in Hassan Khel clash

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Peshawar has registered a case and launched an investigation following a clash in the former Frontier Region area of Hasan Khel that left two people dead.

According to police on Thursday, the incident occurred in the border area between Hasan Khel and Matni police stations.

Authorities received reports of an exchange of fire at Ashokhel Khanwah Chowk between several armed men and a former Levies official, identified as Rizwan, son of Ghulawas Khan, a resident of Ashokhel.

During the shootout, one alleged militant was killed and another was reportedly injured. After the exchange of fire, the former Levies official allegedly sought refuge in a local seminary.

However, the armed assailants reportedly hurled a hand grenade at him, which exploded and resulted in his death.

The attackers fled the scene.

Police stated that the deceased Levies official had been dismissed from service several years ago.

The CTD Peshawar has registered a case under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act along with other relevant provisions. Investigation teams have collected crucial evidence from the scene and initiated a probe from multiple angles.

Officials noted that Hasan Khel, Matni, and Badhber are considered highly sensitive areas due to their proximity to former tribal regions.
