LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested 21 terrorists linked to banned outfits and recovered explosives in province-wide intelligence-based operations,officials said on Saturday.
According to a CTD spokesperson,214 intelligence-based operations were conducted across various districts, during which 215 suspects were interrogated. The raids led to the arrest of 21 terrorists and recovery of 6,330 grams of explosives,17 detonators,39 feet of safety
fuse wire and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along with weapons,banned literature, pamphlets, mobile phones and cash.
Among those arrested were Pir Shams of Fitna Al-Khawarij from Lahore and Abdul Latif of BLA from Toba Tek Singh, who was reportedly apprehended with explosive material.
Other suspects include Misbah, Samiullah, Gulab Khan, Toor Khan, Zareen Shah, Khayal Muhammad, Muhammad Nabeel, Inamullah, Azeemullah and Khan Badshah.
Officials said the arrested individuals belonged to Fitna Al-Khawarij and other proscribed organizations, with links spread across multiple districts including Khushab,Gujranwala,Faisalabad,Multan,Bahawalpur,Pakpattan,Jhang and Mianwali.
The spokesperson said the group was planning coordinated attacks at multiple locations to spread fear among the public. Cases have been registered and further investigations was underway.
In addition, the CTD, in coordination with local police and security agencies, conducted 5,040 combing operations, during which 18,932 individuals were checked, 587 suspects arrested, 555 FIRs registered and 542 recoveries made.
The department reiterated its commitment to ensuring security across Punjab, saying indiscriminate action against terrorists and anti-state elements will continue.
