CTD arrests 13 terrorists from various banned organizations

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab has foiled a major terror plot by arresting 13 terrorists belonging to banned organizations during intelligence-based operations across the province,here on Saturday.

According to a CTD spokesperson,a total of 58 intelligence-based operations were conducted in different districts of Punjab, during which 58 suspects were interrogated and 13 terrorists were arrested along with weapons,explosives and other prohibited materials.

The arrested individuals were identified as Mukhtar Ahmed,Younus,Feroz Khan,Wali,Owais,Farman,Momin,Adnan,Raja Faisal, Raza Khan, Ghulam Shabbir, Sajid and Mukhtar Shah.

Officials said the suspects belonged to different banned outfits, including Fitna-ul-Khawarij and were linked to various districts including Lahore,Jhang,Sahiwal,Jhelum,Chiniot,Mandi Bahauddin and Mianwali.

The spokesperson said a dangerous terrorist, Mukhtar, associated with Fitna-ul-Khawarij, was arrested from Lahore along with a large quantity of explosives.

Recovered from the possession of the suspects were 2,010 grams of explosives,eight detonators,15 feet of safety fuse wire, four improvised explosive devices (IEDs), pamphlets of banned organizations, magazines,a mobile phone and cash.

The spokesperson said the arrested terrorists were allegedly planning to target law enforcement agencies.

He added that cases have been registered against the arrested suspects and further investigations were underway to trace their networks and facilitators.

In addition,the CTD Punjab conducted 1,487 combing operations in coordination with local police and other security agencies,during which 53,335 individuals were checked,168 suspects were arrested, 153 FIRs were registered and 150 recoveries were made.

The spokesperson said CTD Punjab was committed to ensuring a safe province and no effort will be spared against terrorists and anti-state elements.
