Criminal record holder re-arrested after encounter

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) The police claimed to have re-arrested a criminal record holder in injured condition after an encounter in the area of Saddar Jaranwala police station.

Police spokesman said here on Thursday that ASI Saddar Jaranwala police station Shah Jahan was carrying a dacoity accused Burhan alias Motu for recovery of case property late Wednesday night when three armed bandits riding on two motorcycles intercepted the police team near 59- Stop. The assailants opened indiscriminate firing and got the arrested accused freed before escaping toward Chak 124-GB.

Receiving information, SHO Saddar Jaranwala police station Inspector Ejaz Ahmad along with his team rushed to the spot and encircled the criminals near Chak 124-GB Rori Mor Pir Pulli.

The police directed the outlaws for surrender but they took shelter in nearby fields and opened blunt firing on the police team. The police also returned fire in self-defense and during this encounter accused Burhan alias Motu received serious injuries due to the bullets fired by his accomplices.

The police re-arrested the injured accused who was wanted to the police in various dacoity, robbery and other cases while his accomplices managed to escape from the scene under the cover of darkness.

The police also recovered one motorcycle from the spot and shifted the accused to hospital for treatment while special team was constituted to trace whereabouts of the escapees and arrest thereof, spokesman added.
