WAH CANTT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) The district administration launched a crackdown on profiteers in Taxila and Wah, arresting 25 shopkeepers and sealing 45 shops for violating official price lists. The operation aimed to curb hoarding and profiteering during Ramadan.
According to APP correspondent, the shopkeepers were sent to jail for 3-5 days after a brief summary trial.
Authorities imposed fines worth Rs 250,000 on the profiteers, depositing the amount in the national kitty.
The administration vowed to continue such operations to ensure relief for citizens and maintain price stability. The crackdown targeted shops violating price controls, aiming to protect consumers from exorbitant rates.
The move reflects the government's commitment to public welfare, ensuring fair prices during Ramadan.
