LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Feb, 2026) The district administration Lahore has tightened the noose around profiteers and hoarders across the city, accelerating field monitoring to ensure public relief and price stability.

Acting on the special directives of the Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Ejaz, all Assistant Commissioners and price control magistrates have been directed to remain active in vegetable and fruit markets, main bazaars and major commercial centres to ensure the availability of essential commodities at officially notified rates.

As a result of proactive measures, the arrival of 50 trucks of potatoes, 50 trucks of onions and 29 trucks of tomatoes in Lahore’s markets has significantly improved the demand and supply situation. Consequently, prices of cabbage, green chilies, okra and local garlic have witnessed a decline, while rates of most other commodities have remained stable.

The DC emphasized that in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, no leniency would be shown to elements exploiting the public. He reiterated that profiteers would be dealt with an iron hand and directed magistrates to ensure strict field presence. Shopkeepers failing to prominently display official rate lists would face stern legal action without discrimination. He added that abundant supply in wholesale markets has helped keep fruit and vegetable prices under control, and a zero-tolerance policy against artificial inflation would continue to safeguard citizens from undue financial burden.

For public facilitation, the District Administration Lahore has also shared its social media platforms and control room number (0307-0002345) to enable citizens to lodge complaints promptly.
