Crackdown on beggars intensified in Multan

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Mar, 2026) In a decisive move to rid the city of professional beggars, the Multan Police has launched a sustained and effective crackdown across various parts of the city.

Special teams, including the police’s dedicated Pink Squad, have been constituted to carry out targeted operations. These teams are actively patrolling different areas of Multan and taking professional beggars into custody.

According to police officials, several of those arrested were allegedly operating in an organized manner, using begging as a regular source of income. Authorities believe such networks exploit public sympathy and contribute to disorder in public spaces.

The Primary objective of the ongoing operations is to protect citizens from exploitation by professional beggars and to improve civic discipline throughout the city.

Police officials emphasized that maintaining public safety and preserving the positive image of Multan remain top priorities.

Legal proceedings are also being initiated against what authorities describe as a “beggar mafia.” The Multan Police has appealed to citizens not to encourage professional begging and to report such elements immediately to law enforcement to ensure timely action.

Officials reaffirmed that all available resources are being utilized to make the city free from organized begging and to ensure a safer, more orderly environment for residents.
