Crackdown launched against illegal cattle markets

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) The district administration has intensified operations against illegal cattle markets established along roadsides and open places ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir personally supervised the anti-encroachment drive and got several unauthorized cattle markets removed from different highways and public places in the district.

He said that except the Model Cattle Market at Niamuana and nine officially designated temporary sale points, the sale of sacrificial animals would not be allowed anywhere in the district.

The deputy commissioner directed assistant commissioners and officials of the Municipal Corporation to ensure strict enforcement of the ban on illegal cattle markets and roadside animal sale points.

He said that maintaining high standards of cleanliness across the district during Eid-ul-Azha remains the administration’s top priority.

He warned that animals found at unauthorized sale points on roadsides and open places would be confiscated and shifted to cattle Pounds.

He urged the citizens to purchase sacrificial animals only from officially approved sale points to help the administration maintain cleanliness, smooth traffic flow and proper civic management.

He also directed the authorities concerned to discourage illegal roadside animal selling activities to avoid traffic congestion and unhygienic conditions in public areas.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner visited a temporary sale point in Jaranwala tehsil and also inspected the Model Cattle Market at Niamuana.

During visit, he reviewed cleanliness arrangements and facilities being provided for traders and buyers, including sanitation, water supply and overall management of the cattle markets.

He instructed the officials to ensure better facilities, effective monitoring and proper implementation of government directions to facilitate citizens and cattle traders during Eid-ul-Azha preparations.
