In line with the directives of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the district administration launched a major crackdown against hoarding in Paharpur tehsil and seized more than 75,000 kilograms of sugar during raids on multiple warehouses

Dera Ismail Khan, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Feb, 2026) In line with the directives of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the district administration launched a major crackdown against hoarding in Paharpur tehsil and seized more than 75,000 kilograms of sugar during raids on multiple warehouses.

Assistant Commissioner Paharpur Dr. Hamid, accompanied by the District food Controller and the Assistant Director Consumer Protection, conducted surprise inspections of various godowns.

During the operation, five warehouses were sealed, and over 75,000 kg of sugar was taken into official custody and handed over to the District Food Controller for further legal proceedings under the relevant hoarding laws.

Officials said that further legal proceedings may be initiated under the relevant anti-hoarding laws. Upon completion of the legal formalities, fines and penalties will be imposed accordingly.

The Assistant Director Consumer Protection was also directed to initiate legal action over the non-registration of the sealed warehouses.

The operation was carried out on the special instructions of the provincial government to ensure effective relief to the public, uninterrupted supply of essential commodities and strict action against profiteering and hoarding, the officials added.
