Crackdown against beggars continues in Hyd as 100 more detained

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) As part of the ongoing crackdown by the district administration and the police against professional begging, the police detained over 100 beggars from the jurisdictions of several police stations here on Sunday.

The action, led by Incharge Women and Child Facilitation Cell Maria Sario, also tried to identify vulnerable children who were rescued and transferred to the Child Facilitation Unit at the One Stop Protection Center for their protection and rehabilitation.Also, the Hyderabad police on Saturday night registered the first ever FIR in the city against beggars under Section 9 of the Beggary Act, 1983, at Cantt police station on the state's complaint.The detained beggars were handed over to the cops of Hussainabad, GOR, Cantt and Bhitai Nagar police stations for legal action.
