LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) Punjab Chairperson Sarah Ahmad on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the murder of seven-year-old Munteha in Sargodha and stressed the need for collective efforts to ensure the safety and protection of children.

According to a CPWB spokesperson, the bureau’s Sargodha team, acting on the special instructions of the chairperson, visited the bereaved family and conveyed condolences on behalf of the institution.

Chairperson Sarah Ahmad said child abuse, kidnapping and murder were grave crimes that posed a serious challenge to society. She said protecting children and safeguarding their rights remained a top priority under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. She said the CPWB would continue fulfilling its responsibilities for the protection and welfare of children and the promotion of their rights.

She added that individuals involved in crimes against children should not be granted any leniency.

The chairperson said ensuring children’s safety was not the sole responsibility of government institutions but a collective obligation of the entire society. She underlined the importance of educating children about good touch, bad touch and personal safety measures to help protect them from abuse and exploitation.

Sarah Ahmad also urged parents to remain vigilant regarding their children’s activities, educational environment, social media usage and daily routines.

She appealed to the public to immediately report any suspicious activity, child exploitation or potential kidnapping threats through the Child Helpline 1121 to help prevent such incidents and ensure timely intervention.
