CPO suspends ASI, female naib muharrar over SOP violations after viral video

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) City Police Officer (CPO) Sahibzada Bilal Umar has suspended an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and a woman Naib Muharrar over violation of departmental rules and abuse of powers after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

According to a police spokesman, the CPO took immediate notice of the viral video involving Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Ghulam Rasool of Civil Lines police station and Woman Naib Moharrar Sidra posted at Women police station.

The CPO directed strict action against the police officials for overstepping their authority and breaching departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

He directed Superintendent Police (SP) Lyallpur Division Abid Zafar to conduct an inquiry into the matter and submit its report at the earliest.

After preliminary findings which established their fault, the police officer ordered immediate suspension of Sidra on charges of misuse of authority and Ghulam Rasool for violating departmental SOPs.

Both officials were also issued charge sheets and a regular inquiry was marked to Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Civil Lines for further proceedings.

Additional departmental action would be initiated in light of the detailed inquiry report as the police department is committed to enforce discipline and ensure strict compliance with rules and regulations across all ranks, police spokesman added.
