ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Wednesday heard arguments on six bail applications filed by the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in criminal cases, including an attempted murder case involving former minister Shahnawaz Ranjha.

The court later sought complete records and fixed February 24 for the next hearing.

Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka presided over the proceedings. Advocates Suleman Safdar and Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry appeared for the PTI founder. His three sisters were also present in the courtroom.

The court formally began hearing arguments on the bail pleas. Advocate Suleman Safdar told the court that his client had earlier appeared before the same court and obtained relief. He said the cases were registered in 2023 and that a Toshakhana-related matter was also pending before the court. He added that interim bail continued as the prosecution had not filed any application to oppose it.

The defence asked the court to ensure the appearance of the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi. The lawyer said if physical production was not possible, they could be produced from Adiala Jail or through video link. He further requested that if the accused were not presented, the jail superintendent should appear before the court.

Judge Majoka questioned whether any bail had previously been cancelled by his court and noted that the defence had suggested four options. The prosecution sought time, stating it needed to prepare.

The court summoned complete records in all cases and directed that the PTI founder be presented in court or via video link at the next hearing. It also ordered all investigating officers to appear with records and adjourned the hearing to February 24.

The cases against PTI founder include matters linked to May 9, attempted murder, and alleged fake receipts, while Bushra Bibi faces a case related to alleged fake receipts in the Toshakhana reference.
