ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Feb, 2026) The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Saturday rejected the bail applications filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) social media activist Haider Saeed in two cases linked to a disputed tweet, following completion of arguments from both sides.
The decision was announced by Senior civil judge/Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah. The court delivered its reserved verdict after hearing submissions from the defence and the prosecution.
Defence lawyers argued that the tweets attributed to Haider Saeed did not contain any material that could incite unrest. They told the court that the cases were registered on political grounds and said the activist’s mobile phone and other digital devices were already in the custody of the prosecution.
The defence requested the court to grant bail, stating that no further investigation required physical custody.
The prosecution opposed the bail pleas and asked the court to dismiss them. Prosecutors argued that the accused had used social media to call for blocking roads and highways. They maintained that digital offenses do not require weapons, adding that statements and online calls can fall under digital terrorism.
The prosecution informed the court that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) had registered the cases against Haider Saeed and that the matter involved misuse of social media platforms.
After hearing both sides, the court rejected the bail applications in both cases.
