Court hands down multiple sentences in smuggling, visa fraud cases

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) A special court has awarded multiple sentences to an accused involved in human smuggling and visa fraud cases, following the completion of hearings in 12 separate cases.

According to a spokesperson for the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Special Court Central-II Lahore Judge Shahid Bashir convicted the accused, Zulqarnain Asad, on charges related to visa fraud and human smuggling.

In four cases, the court sentenced the accused to 15-year rigorous imprisonment in each case, along with a collective fine of Rs 4.

9 million. In an additional eight cases, he was awarded 10-year rigorous imprisonment in each case, along with a total fine of Rs 9.1 million.

The FIA officials confirmed that several more cases against the accused are still pending before courts, and additional sentences are likely as legal proceedings continue.

The court also directed the jail authorities to ensure immediate implementation of the verdict. FIA's Anti Human Trafficking Cell had registered the cases against the accused on charges related to visa fraud and human smuggling.
