BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Feb, 2026) District and Sessions Judge Bahawalpur Shehzad Akhtar Kiani has awarded multiple sentences in separate criminal cases, reflecting the judiciary’s firm stance against serious offences. In murder case No. 203/2023 registered at Abbasnagar Police Station under Section 302 PPC, the court sentenced the accused, Ishtiaq, to three counts of the death penalty along with a fine of PKR 900,000. In another case (No. 1669/25) registered at Saddar Bahawalpur Police Station under Section 9(1)3-C of the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA), accused Imran was sentenced to nine years of rigorous imprisonment and fined PKR 80,000. Similarly, in case No. 1468/25 registered at Civil Lines Police Station Bahawalpur under Section 9(2)3 of the CNSA, accused Rizwan was awarded three years of rigorous imprisonment and fined PKR 25,000.
The prosecution of these cases was conducted by Assistant District Public Prosecutor Hafiz Muhammad Azhar Ali under the supervision of District Public Prosecutor Bahawalpur Nadeem Iqbal Khakwani.
The prosecution team presented strong evidence and compelling arguments before the court, which led to the successful convictions.
Speaking on the occasion, Nadeem Iqbal Khakwani stated that the Prosecution Department remains committed to ensuring the effective delivery of justice. He emphasized that the vision of the Government of Punjab and Prosecutor General Punjab Syed Farhad Ali Shah is based on a zero-tolerance policy toward serious crimes, transparent and timely investigations, and securing convictions through solid evidence. He added that the verdicts reflect the dedication and professionalism of the prosecution team and represent a significant step toward strengthening the rule of law, enhancing public trust, and ensuring justice in society.
