LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Mar, 2026) An accountability court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of a corruption and kickbacks reference related to Gujrat development projects against former Punjab chief minister Pervez Elahi and others until March 17.
The court directed witnesses of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to ensure their appearance at the next hearing.
Accountability Court Judge Rana Arif conducted the proceedings. NAB witnesses appeared to record their testimonies; however, their statements could not be recorded due to a lawyers’ strike.
Defence counsel requested the court to adjourn the proceedings, which the judge accepted.
Former principal secretary to the chief minister, Muhammad Khan Bhatti, and other accused appeared before the court, while a representative attended on behalf of Pervez Elahi. The court has already granted him permanent exemption from personal appearance on medical grounds and has appointed Mukhtiar Ahmad Ranjha as his pleader.
According to the reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau, Pervez Elahi and other accused allegedly received kickbacks and bribes in development projects in Gujrat. The court has already framed charges against the accused in the case.
