LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) The Punjab Agriculture department has advised that farmers should continue seasonal cotton cultivation and sow the BT and non-BT varieties recommended by the department.
A spokesman for the department said here on Monday that cotton growers must irrigate the crop every 7 to 10 days according to weather conditions and soil type.
He further said that weeds during the early stages of cotton growth can cause losses ranging from 10% to 42%.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Therefore, once all weeds have emerged, farmers should preferably spray Glyphosate at the rate of 1500 to 1800 milliliters mixed in 100 liters of water between 25 to 30 days after crop emergence. For triple-gene cotton varieties, Glyphosate can be sprayed without a shield, he added.
He said, "If the crop is intended to be maintained for 60 to 70 days, the spray should be applied using a T-jet nozzle with a shield, and only after consultation with local experts of the Agriculture department."
