Constable martyred as assailants open fire

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2026) A police constable embraced martyrdom after unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on him at Heera Adda in Layyah district, police said on Monday.

According to a spokesperson, Constable Asad Naseer was performing duty when unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire on him, resulting in his martyrdom.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem paid tribute to the great sacrifice of the martyred constable, stating that he laid down his life while protecting the lives and property of citizens.

The IGP Punjab directed the regional police officer (RPO) Dera Ghazi Khan and district police officer (DPO) Layyah to ensure the immediate arrest of the suspects involved in the incident and bring them to justice at the earliest.
