Conference held on effective prosecution of narcotics cases, legal aid awareness

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) In line with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's vision of a "Drug-Free Punjab," an important conference focusing on the effective investigation and successful prosecution of narcotics cases, as well as public awareness under the Punjab Legal Aid Act, was held at the conference room of the District Public Prosecutor's Office, Sargodha on Wednesday.

The conference was organized under the leadership of Punjab Minister for Prosecution Rana Bilal Ahmad Khan, the guidance of Secretary Prosecution Punjab Salman Ghani, and the professional supervision of Prosecutor General Punjab Syed Farhad Ali Shah.

The event was attended by investigation officers and raiding teams of the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (PCNF), anti-narcotics investigation officers of Punjab Police, and prosecutors from Headquarters Sargodha.

Addressing the participants, District Public Prosecutor Sargodha Malik Amir Shahzad delivered a comprehensive briefing on effective investigation techniques, evidentiary standards, legal requirements, and key aspects of successful prosecution in narcotics cases.

He also highlighted the free legal assistance and other facilities available to deserving citizens under the Punjab Legal Aid Act.

Malik Amir Shahzad urged investigating officers to promptly refer eligible and deserving individuals to the Prosecution Office so they could benefit from free legal representation and legal services in accordance with the Punjab Legal Aid Act and the Chief Minister’s vision of ensuring access to justice for all.

An interactive question-and-answer session was also held during the conference, where District Public Prosecutor Malik Amir Shahzad and Senior Deputy District Public Prosecutor Javed Iqbal provided detailed and satisfactory responses to participants' queries.

The conference concluded with a renewed commitment to eliminating the menace of narcotics, strengthening prosecution mechanisms, enhancing inter-agency coordination, and ensuring the provision of free legal assistance to deserving citizens through sustained professional collaboration among all relevant institutions.
